God is working in the hearts and lives of His people at
Green Hill. He is growing His church and building His kingdom. I’m like a kid
in a candy store when I think of all the things God has planned for us. I keep
coming back to Ephesians 3:20, “Now to
Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church
and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.” It’s a joy
to serve and be a part of what He is doing at Green Hill. My heart is full as I
listen to people share how God is tearing down walls in relationships,
reconciling families, and delivering them from addictions and strongholds. I’m
telling you, God is good and He is working in ways that are beyond anything we
could ever ask or think or imagine!
My prayer is that we would stay focused on Him. By that I
mean, may we continue to heed Jesus’ words to His disciples to, “seek first His kingdom and His
righteousness,” (Matthew 6:33). We must keep the main thing the main thing.
This is especially challenging as we move into the summer months, which is
often a busy time of year. It’s important for us to take advantage of vacation
time with family and enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation, but let’s not
take a hiatus from what God has called us to do. As part of His church, let us
remain faithful as we give, serve, fulfill our ministry, and accomplish the
mission and vision He has given to us.
Summer is often a time of year when churches gear down.
People are often traveling and vacationing, so everything seems to come to a
screeching halt. We’ve decided to take a different approach this summer. While
some groups and ministries will be taking a break for the summer, most of our
church schedule will remain the same. It makes sense. School is out. Families
are moving and relocating to other places. They are looking for a new church
home and a place to get plugged in. We need to be ready to reach out and be
salt and light. Let’s not go MIA. Instead, let’s gear up for Vacation Bible
School and other ministry opportunities that are before us. Let us seek first
His kingdom!
Serving Together,
Pastor Brett
