Serving in student ministry from 2000-2006 will forever be some of the sweetest memories of my life. I was privileged to love and lead students to a relationship with Jesus Christ. To this day, I pray for them and their families. From a distance, I have watched many of them graduate from high school, college, marry, and start their own families. Seeing them still grounded in their faith and growing in their walk with Jesus Christ is one of the greatest joys of my life.
By the way, if you are reading this as one of my former students or parents, I thank you for letting me serve you and your family during those years.
Student Pastors have one of the greatest and most fulfilling assignments on earth. But, it's not all mountain-top experiences. I understand the challenges that come with the territory. There are times when you will feel ineffective. There are times when you will feel unappreciated. There are times when you will be criticized for your leadership and decision making. There are times when you will want to quit (at least once!). It's just part of being a leader. There is certainly a painful side of leadership. But, the joy of investing and pouring your life into students and families far outweighs the grief.
As for me, I was privileged to serve the greatest students on earth!
